Adjusting Your SuperVee 27 Hardware

You can make hardware adjustments to your SuperVee 27 to suit your driving style or achieve maximum handling and speed for your water conditions. You can use the information below as a guideline to help you understand what happens when you adjust the hardware. Remember that the prop and water conditions play a huge part in the performance of the boat.

Adjusting the strut:
When adjusting the strut on your SuperVee 27 boat its is best to remove the two strut bolts using a 3mm allen wrench and a 7mm open end wrench. Slide the bolts out and carefully bend the strut up or down to make your adjustments. Replace the bolts and tighten. You will see that with the bolts removed you can bend the inner strut stuffing tube quite easily. Take your time and just bend a small amount at a time. If you bend your strut to the point the bolts no longer easily slide back in to the strut bracket, you have adjusted the strut too far and need to move it back a small amount.

Positive Strut Angle: Positive strut angle causes the bow (front) to run high, making the boat faster but less stable and likely to blow off or crash in rough water. As a side note this also places the least amount of stress on the motor and drive line.

Negative Strut Angle: Negative strut angle can cause the boat to run tight to the water. Because of this negative strut angle also places the most amount of stress on the motor and drive components but can help the boat run better in rougher water. Too much negative angle might cause your boat to "stuff" dive under water if it comes off a wave. Remember, small adjustments are best.

Neutral Strut Angle: A neutral strut setting is good for most water conditions, but ultimately the prop and weight of the boat will determine if you are going to run your boat with Neutral strut angle.

Adjusting the rudder:
Rudder Angle: Tilting the bottom of the rudder to a positive angle (away from the transom) will cause the transom to run higher out of the water in the corners. Tucking it under will cause the transom (back of the boat) to run deeper. Keep in mind as you make your adjustments that a small change can make a big difference.

Trim Plates: The trim plates are used to help control the ride of the hull. If the boat is hopping, you can bend down the trim plates (negative). If it looks like the boat is running wet, you can bend the trim plates up a small amount (positive). Note: You can use a pair of pliers to carefully bend your trim plates. Just a small amount is all that is needed to make a large difference. Once set, the trim plates will hold there setting because of there strong construction.

PROPELLER CHOICES
The propeller plays a huge part in how your SuperVee 27 performs. The FRP (Fiber-Reinforced Plastic) prop that comes with the boat is a good all around prop but if you want even more performance, try a metal prop. Here are a few good choices for both the brushless boat as well as the nitro version. For optimum performance its best to balance and sharpen your metal propeller.

Nitro-AquaCraft/GrimRacer 4053 (AQUB9715)
Nitro/Brushless-AquaCraft/GrimRacer 4052/3 (AQUB9720)
Brushless-AquaCraft/GrimRacer 4255 (AQUB9725)

Good luck and have fun tuning your SuperVee 27
