Top Speed 2 (AQUB0001-0004)
Tech Note
Posted July 29, 2005
On page 7 of the Top Speed 2 instruction manual (version 1.0), please disregard all references to the 7/32" (5.5 mm) drill bit. The proper size drill bit for drilling the holes for the brass threaded inserts is 3/16" (5 mm) or 13/64".
Please replace page 7 with this update:
If you have drilled holes in the transom for the brass threaded inserts you will need to do the following:
- Drill all four (4) holes out to 3/8" (10 mm).
- Cut four (4) pieces of 3/8" (10 mm) dowel to 3/8" (10 mm), these will be used to plug the holes.
- Place epoxy on the segments of 3/8" (10 mm) dowel and insert them into the holes. Wait until the epoxy has fully cured before proceeding.
- Tape the appropriate template for the engine that are using in place on the transom. Mark and drill four pilot holes with a 1/8" (3 mm) drill bit.
- Remove the template and use a 3/16" (5 mm) or 13/64" drill bit to increase the size of the hole.
